What is KNX?

KNX is an open standard (EN 50090, ISO/IEC 14543) for commercial and domestic building automation. KNX devices can manage lighting, blinds and shutters, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), security systems, energy management, audio visual, white goods, displays, remote control, etc. KNX uses a distributed intelligence approach, where devices communicate with each other without a central server. Configuration is typically done via ETS (Engineering Tool Software).
