FTPS (FTP Secure) is a file transfer protocol that adds support for Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) cryptographic protocols to File Transfer Protocol (FTP). It is used to securely transfer files between a client and a server, protecting the data from eavesdropping and tampering during transmission. Unlike SFTP, which is a completely different protocol built on SSH, FTPS is FTP with added security layers.
