What is Cat6a?

Cat6a (Category 6a) is an enhanced version of Cat6 cabling. It's a twisted pair cable standard for Ethernet and other network physical layers that is backward compatible with the Cat5/5e and Cat6 standards. 'a' stands for 'augmented' and it performs at up to 500 MHz and can support 10 Gigabit Ethernet at 100 meters.
