Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) is a cloud-based identity and access management service. It offers similar functionality to AD Domain Services, such as user authentication and authorization, but is geared towards cloud environments and hybrid scenarios. It is often used as an alternative or complement, but can replace AD Domain Services in some cases.
