**Ultrasonic Testing**

What is Ultrasonic Testing?

Ultrasonic testing (UT) is a non-destructive testing technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to detect internal flaws or characterize materials. A transducer emits ultrasonic waves that propagate through the material. When the waves encounter a discontinuity (e.g., a crack, void, or inclusion), they are reflected back to the transducer or received by another transducer. By analyzing the time, amplitude, and characteristics of the reflected or transmitted waves, the size, location, and nature of the flaw can be determined. UT is commonly used in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and construction industries to inspect welds, castings, forgings, and other materials for defects, measure thickness, and assess material properties.
