What is TGA/DSC?
TGA/DSC refers to Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) coupled with Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). TGA measures the mass of a substance as a function of temperature or time, under a controlled atmosphere. DSC measures the heat flow into or out of a sample as a function of temperature or time, also under a controlled atmosphere. The combination provides complementary information about thermal transitions, such as melting points, glass transition temperatures, decomposition temperatures, and reaction kinetics. It's commonly used for characterizing materials like polymers, pharmaceuticals, and foods, to determine their thermal stability, composition, and behavior under various temperature conditions.
