What is SEVIS?
SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) is a web-based system that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) uses to track and monitor F and M visa students and their dependents, and exchange visitors and their dependents, from the time they receive their initial I-20 or DS-2019 forms until they depart the United States or otherwise change their immigration status. It is used by schools and exchange programs to maintain information on international students and exchange visitors, and by the U.S. government to ensure compliance with immigration laws.
