What is RPVST?

RPVST stands for Rapid Per-VLAN Spanning Tree. It is a Cisco proprietary protocol that provides a separate instance of spanning tree for each VLAN in a network. This allows for load balancing across multiple links, as different VLANs can use different paths. RPVST converges faster than the original Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and Per-VLAN Spanning Tree (PVST) by using the IEEE 802.1w Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) standards for faster convergence with PVST+ features.
