What is PUT?

PUT is an HTTP request method used to replace an existing resource with the data provided in the request body. It's often employed for updating a complete resource representation. If a resource doesn't exist, PUT can also be used to create it (though the RFC prefers using POST for resource creation if the client doesn't know the resource's URL beforehand).
