What is DELETE?
In the context of HTTP methods (also known as verbs), DELETE is a request method used to delete the specified resource. When a DELETE request is successfully processed, the origin server should remove the target resource. However, the HTTP specification allows the server to not actually delete the resource but instead mark it as deleted or simply remove the reference to it. The client may not know the resource was permanently deleted. DELETE requests are commonly used in RESTful APIs to manage resources.
