What is EQ?

EQ, often standing for 'Equalization', refers to the process of adjusting the balance between different frequency components within an audio signal. In music production and audio engineering, EQ is commonly used to shape the tonal characteristics of individual instruments or vocals, or to correct unwanted sonic artifacts. It involves boosting or attenuating specific frequency ranges to achieve a desired sonic outcome, such as enhancing clarity, reducing muddiness, or creating a particular sonic texture. EQ can also refer to Emotional Quotient, a measurement of a person's ability to perceive, understand, manage, and use their own and others' emotions.
