What is Diagnodent?

Diagnodent is a laser fluorescence caries detection aid used in dentistry. It helps dentists identify early carious lesions, particularly in pits and fissures, that may be difficult to detect with traditional visual and tactile methods. It works by emitting a laser light into the tooth structure and measuring the fluorescence. Increased fluorescence indicates the presence of bacterial byproducts associated with caries.
