What is X-band?

X-band is a segment of the microwave radio region of the electromagnetic spectrum. In radar, X-band frequencies are used for weather surveillance, air traffic control, maritime vessel traffic control, and defense tracking. X-band radar is also used by some police for speed detection. Satellite communication also utilizes X-band, particularly for military and government applications.
