What is Wide Area Networks?

A Wide Area Network (WAN) is a telecommunications network that extends over a large geographical area. WANs are often established with leased telecommunication circuits. Businesses, schools and government entities use WANs to relay data to staff, students, clients, buyers, and suppliers from various locations. Essentially, it allows computers and devices in different locations to communicate with each other as if they were on the same local network.
