What is Visual Basic for Applications?

Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is an event-driven programming language developed by Microsoft and now mostly discontinued. It is primarily used to automate tasks within Microsoft Office applications like Excel, Word, and Access. VBA enables users to write macros to perform repetitive operations, create custom functions, automate data processing, and integrate different Office applications. While still functional in existing applications, Microsoft is transitioning to newer technologies like JavaScript for Office Add-ins.
