Vblock was a converged infrastructure platform developed by VCE (Virtual Computing Environment), a joint venture between VMware, Cisco, and EMC. It integrated compute (Cisco UCS), networking (Cisco), storage (EMC), and virtualization (VMware) into a single, pre-configured, and pre-tested system. Vblocks were designed to simplify IT infrastructure deployment and management, accelerate application deployment, and reduce operational costs. They were commonly used in enterprise data centers to support a variety of workloads, including virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), databases, and business applications. While VCE was later acquired by EMC (which was then acquired by Dell), the Vblock brand has been discontinued.
