What is Unix/Linux OS?

Unix/Linux refers to a family of multitasking, multi-user computer operating systems that derive from the original AT&T Unix developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Linux, specifically, is a Unix-like kernel first released in 1991. Linux operating systems (often called distributions) are widely used as server operating systems, powering a large portion of the internet, cloud infrastructure, and embedded systems.
