What is TOTP?

TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) is an algorithm that computes a temporary one-time password from a secret key and the current time. It's used for multi-factor authentication, providing an extra layer of security beyond just a username and password. Typically, a user scans a QR code or manually enters a key into an authenticator app (like Google Authenticator or Authy), and the app generates a new password every 30 seconds or minute. The user then enters this password when logging in.
