What is Token-Ring?

Token Ring is a local area network (LAN) technology where devices are connected in a ring topology. A special packet called a 'token' circulates around the ring, and a device can only transmit data when it possesses the token. This prevents collisions and provides deterministic access to the network. It was primarily used in the 1980s and 1990s but has since been largely replaced by Ethernet.
