What is Tiles?

Tiles, in the context of computing and technology, can refer to several different concepts. One common use is in graphical user interfaces (GUIs) where the screen is divided into rectangular areas, each displaying a separate application or piece of information. This is often called tiled window management, allowing multiple applications to be visible and accessible simultaneously without overlapping. Another use refers to map tiles, where geographic data is divided into small, square images that are loaded and displayed as needed to create interactive maps. There are also thermal tiles used to protect spacecraft during re-entry, such as the Space Shuttle.
