What is threat modelling?

Threat modeling is a process by which potential threats, such as structural vulnerabilities, can be identified and enumerated, and countermeasures can be applied to either prevent, or mitigate the effects of threats on the system. It is commonly used in software development and cybersecurity to proactively improve security by understanding potential attack vectors and weaknesses in a system's design, implementation, or operational procedures.
