What is SPS-Programmierung?

SPS-Programmierung, which translates to PLC programming in English, refers to the programming of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). PLCs are specialized industrial computers used to automate electromechanical processes, such as control of machinery on factory assembly lines, amusement rides, or light fixtures. PLC programming involves writing code, often using languages defined by IEC 61131-3 such as Ladder Diagram (LD), Function Block Diagram (FBD), Structured Text (ST), Instruction List (IL), and Sequential Function Chart (SFC), to define the sequence of operations and control logic that the PLC will execute to interact with input devices (sensors, switches) and output devices (motors, valves, actuators).
