What is SOCCER?

Soccer, also known as football, is a team sport played with a ball between two teams of 11 players. It is played on a rectangular field called a pitch, with a goal at each end. The object of the game is to score by getting the ball into the opposing goal. Primarily, this is done by using the feet to maneuver the ball, though players may use any part of their body except their hands and arms (the goalkeeper is permitted to use their hands and arms within their penalty area). Soccer is the world's most popular ball game in terms of participation and spectatorship.
