What is Snare?

Snare is a family of open-source and commercial log collection agents developed by Intersect Alliance. They are commonly used to forward system logs to a centralized log management or SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) system. Snare agents are available for various operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS. While initially designed for security auditing and intrusion detection, Snare is also used for general system monitoring and troubleshooting. The "arcsight.com" domain is included because ArcSight is a well-known SIEM system that Snare often integrates with, although Snare can be configured to work with other systems as well. The product is now owned by Cyemptive Technologies.
