What is SF6?

SF6, or sulfur hexafluoride, is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic, and non-flammable gas that is an excellent electrical insulator. It is commonly used in high-voltage circuit breakers, gas-insulated substations (GIS), and other electrical equipment to prevent arcing and insulate electrical conductors. However, it is also a potent greenhouse gas, contributing significantly to climate change.
