What is Serveur?

In computing, a "serveur" (which is French for "server") is a system (software and suitable computer hardware) that responds to requests across a computer network to provide, or help to provide, a network service. Servers can be used to provide various functionalities, often called "services", such as sharing data or hardware resources among clients, or performing computation for a client. Common examples include web servers (serving web pages), file servers (managing and storing files), and database servers (managing databases).
