What is SerDes?

SerDes (Serializer/Deserializer) is a technology used to transmit and receive serial data over a single line or a limited number of lines. It converts parallel data to serial data for transmission and converts serial data back to parallel data at the receiving end. SerDes is commonly used in high-speed communication interfaces such as PCIe, USB, Ethernet, and SATA to reduce the number of I/O pins required and improve signal integrity.
