What is Semi-Auto?

Semi-automatic, often shortened to "semi-auto", refers to a mechanism or device that performs some steps automatically, but requires manual action to initiate each cycle. Common examples include semi-automatic firearms, which automatically load the next cartridge but require the trigger to be pulled for each shot; semi-automatic transmissions in vehicles which automate gear changes; or certain manufacturing processes where some steps are automated but require human intervention to start or manage the overall process.
