What is RxNorm?

RxNorm is a standardized nomenclature for clinical drugs. It provides normalized names for drugs and a mechanism for linking drug names to many of the drug vocabularies commonly used in pharmacy management and drug interaction software, including those of First Databank, Micromedex, and Gold Standard. It is used to facilitate interoperability among drug information systems.
