What is Routing & Switching?

Routing and switching are fundamental technologies for network communication. Routing involves determining the best path for data packets to travel from source to destination across a network. Routers use routing protocols to exchange information and make intelligent forwarding decisions. Switching, on the other hand, involves forwarding data packets between devices within the same network segment or subnet. Switches operate at Layer 2 (Data Link Layer) of the OSI model and use MAC addresses to forward traffic efficiently.
