What is Route Table?

A route table (or routing table) is a data table stored in a router or a networked computer that lists the routes to particular network destinations, and in some cases, metrics or distances associated with those routes. It contains information about the available paths for network traffic and helps direct packets to their destination. Route tables are fundamental to network routing and are used in both static and dynamic routing scenarios.
