What is rkt?

rkt (pronounced "rocket") was a container runtime designed to be composable, secure, and interoperable. It was an alternative to Docker, emphasizing security and standard container formats. rkt used a pod-native approach, running each application container in its own separate process namespace, and was designed to integrate well with systemd. While it gained some traction, it is now considered to be in maintenance mode and is not actively developed.
