What is RBAC/ABAC?

RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) is an access control mechanism that restricts system access to authorized users based on their roles within an organization. Users are assigned roles, and roles are granted permissions to access specific resources. It simplifies access management by grouping permissions based on job functions. ABAC (Attribute-Based Access Control) is a more fine-grained access control model that grants or denies access based on attributes of the user, the resource, and the environment. Attributes can include user roles, resource types, time of day, location, security clearance, etc. ABAC allows for more dynamic and context-aware access control policies compared to RBAC.
