What is PSCD?

PSCD likely refers to Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis Disease. Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) is a chronic, progressive disease of the bile ducts inside and outside the liver. The bile ducts become inflamed and scarred, eventually narrowing or becoming blocked. This leads to bile buildup in the liver, which can cause liver damage, cirrhosis, and liver failure. There is currently no cure for PSC. Treatment focuses on managing the symptoms and complications of the disease, such as medications to reduce inflammation, antibiotics to treat infections, and procedures to improve bile flow. In some cases, a liver transplant may be necessary.
