What is PPTP?

PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol) is an obsolete method for implementing virtual private networks (VPNs). PPTP uses a control channel over TCP and a GRE tunnel for encapsulating PPP packets. It is commonly used to create VPNs for remote access, but it has significant security vulnerabilities and is generally not recommended for use anymore.
