What is point clouds?
A point cloud is a set of data points in space. Point clouds are commonly acquired by 3D scanners, but can also be generated from stereoscopic vision or photogrammetry. They represent a 3D shape or object. Point clouds are used for 3D modeling, reconstruction, computer vision, autonomous navigation, and various visualization applications. Each point typically has its x, y, and z coordinates, and may optionally have other attributes such as color or intensity.
