What is PMT?

PMT can refer to multiple technologies, making a definitive description challenging without more context. However, 'PMT' most commonly stands for 'Photomultiplier Tube'. A Photomultiplier Tube (PMT) is a highly sensitive vacuum tube that converts light into an electrical signal. When photons strike the PMT's photocathode, electrons are emitted via the photoelectric effect.
