What is Platform as a Service (PaaS)?

Platform as a Service (PaaS) is a cloud computing model that provides customers with a complete platform—hardware, software, and infrastructure—for developing, running, and managing applications without the complexity of building and maintaining the infrastructure typically associated with developing and launching an app. PaaS users typically manage the applications and data while the provider manages the runtime, operating system, servers, virtualization, storage, networking, and PaaS software itself.
