What is PKI?

Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is a set of roles, policies, hardware, software and procedures needed to create, manage, distribute, use, store and revoke digital certificates and manage public-key encryption. PKI is commonly used to secure communications over the internet, verify the identity of users and devices, and protect sensitive data through encryption and digital signatures.
