What is PKCS#11?

PKCS#11, or Cryptographic Token Interface Standard, defines an API to access cryptographic tokens, such as hardware security modules (HSMs) and smart cards. It provides a standard interface for applications to perform cryptographic operations, manage keys, and access other security features of the token without needing to know the specific details of the underlying hardware.
