What is Photon?

Photon is a high-performance, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed query engine developed by Apache Spark, often associated with Databricks. It accelerates query execution for large datasets, particularly in data warehousing and analytics scenarios. It is used to optimize queries and improve performance without requiring modifications to the SQL code. There is also a AWS Lightsail service called Photon that is a managed, in-memory, data-caching service for websites and applications that can dramatically improve website loading speeds.
