What is PAT?

PAT stands for Port Address Translation. It's a network address translation (NAT) method that maps multiple private IP addresses to a single public IP address by using different port numbers. This allows many devices on a private network to share a single public IP address when communicating with the internet. It is commonly used in home routers and small office networks to conserve public IP addresses.
