OSPFv2 is an Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) used for routing IP packets within a single Autonomous System (AS). It is a link-state routing protocol that gathers link information from available routers and constructs a topology map of the network. This map is then used to calculate the best path to each destination using Dijkstra's algorithm. OSPFv2 is commonly used in enterprise networks and service provider networks to efficiently route traffic by dynamically adapting to network changes.
