What is OSI?

The Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model is a conceptual framework that characterizes and standardizes the communication functions of a telecommunication or computing system without regard to its underlying internal structure and technology. It divides computer network architecture into seven layers: Application, Presentation, Session, Transport, Network, Data Link, and Physical. It is used for understanding and designing network protocols.
