What is Oracle Active Data Guard?

Oracle Active Data Guard provides a comprehensive and integrated set of services that create, maintain, manage, and monitor one or more synchronized standby databases to protect Oracle data from planned and unplanned outages, data corruption, and data errors. It allows read-only access to the standby database while it is synchronized, enabling offloading of reporting and other read-intensive operations from the primary database.
