What is Optim?

IBM Optim (now part of the broader InfoSphere Information Server) refers to a suite of data management products focused on data optimization, data privacy, and application retirement. It is commonly used for data archiving, test data management, data masking, and application decommissioning. Optim helps organizations manage data growth, improve application performance, and meet compliance requirements by providing solutions for managing data across its lifecycle. Specifically, test data management functionalities allow creating masked and representative datasets for application testing, while data archiving facilities enable storing older, less frequently accessed data outside the main production databases.
