What is OPT?

OPT, which commonly refers to "Open Pre-trained Transformer", is a large language model (LLM) developed by Meta AI. OPT models are trained on vast amounts of text data and are designed to generate human-quality text, translate languages, answer questions, and perform other natural language processing tasks. Unlike some other large language models, Meta made the OPT models and their training code publicly available to encourage open research and development in the field of AI. The models are used for research purposes, experimentation with LLMs, and as a basis for building other NLP applications.
