What is OPC UA/DA?
OPC UA (Unified Architecture) is a platform-independent standard through which different kinds of systems and devices can communicate by exchanging data. OPC DA (Data Access) is an older, Windows-only standard focused on providing real-time data access. OPC UA is designed to replace OPC DA and other earlier OPC specifications by offering improved security, platform independence, and richer information modeling capabilities. While OPC DA is still in use, OPC UA is the modern standard favored for new industrial automation implementations.
