What is OAuth2?

OAuth 2.0 is an authorization framework that enables third-party applications to obtain limited access to an HTTP service, either on behalf of a resource owner or by allowing the third-party application to obtain access on its own behalf. It is commonly used to grant websites or applications access to user information stored with another service provider (e.g., allowing a social media application to access a user's contacts from their email account) without giving them the user's password.
