NSX-V (NSX for vSphere) was VMware's network virtualization platform for vSphere environments. It enabled software-defined networking (SDN) by abstracting network resources from the underlying physical infrastructure. NSX-V provided features like micro-segmentation, logical switching, routing, load balancing, and VPN services. It was commonly used to improve network security, automate network provisioning, and enhance agility in virtualized data centers. Note that NSX-V has reached End of General Support (EOGS) and is no longer actively developed or supported by VMware. VMware now recommends migrating to NSX-T.
